Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect masticatory load on the peri-implant tissues. The maxillary and mandibular molars of the dog were extracted, and the titanium alloy implant and HA coated implant were installed after wound healing. After the specimen being treated with conventional methos, radiographic and histological studies were carried out. The results were as follows : 1. No radiolucency was shown of around the implants implanted in the maxilla and mandible. 2. The inflammatory response of peri-implant soft tissues was mild and there was no significant apical migration of junctional epithelium. 3. Dense lamellate bone existed between implant and interface surface. The interface of implant and surrounding bone was composed of the dense lamellate bone. 4. In the maxilla, the bony tissue around the implant apex was almost comprised of yellow bone marrow, but the interface of that area was surrounded with the lamellate bone. 5. In the mandible, the tissues around the implant apex were consisted of cancellous bone and bone marrow.
